Spur der Hoffnung (Trace of hope)

The shooting took place on the island Hiddensee in the coldest winter since 100 years in Germany, just after the break-out of the bird flu on that very island. No cars or any other motorized vehicles are allowed there, so that the shooting was finished under extrem harsh conditions, which also can be seen in the movie.
"A lonely island in the baltic sea end of february. In a strange way BEN's (Peter Lohmeyer) past returns to him, as he finds a half frozen young boy in a wracked boat in a cold winter night. Ben lost his wife and son tragically as they tried to escape from the former GDR. The boy (Brewin Koneswaran) has a dark skin and he doesn't speak a word of any familiar language. Slowly it becomes clear that his origins are in Sri Lanka. At the same time the man, who Ben holds responsible for the death of his family, returns to the island as a police officer (HEINER STRAUSSENBERG - Jürgen Vogel).
Since Satya is afraid of police, Ben has even less a reason to deliver the boy to the hands of the state. Slowly Satya begins to trust Ben - he manages to make Ben feel alive again after so many years of sorrow and yearning. Everything seems alright until METTE HANSEN (Camilla Soeberg), a social worker from Denmark, appears on the island searching for the boy who had fled from a home for refugees. As then a storm rises, Satya flees again and Ben gets into the same situation as once with his own family, trying to save their lives..."
